What is DSAC’s Mission?

Our purpose is to offer support and promotion of quality activities, provide public relations and fundraising/scholarship support. Disabled Services Advisory Council, Inc. (DSAC) is a non-profit advisory organization to Therapeutic Recreation and AgeWell Services.

Officers

Eleanor Tamayo

Chairperson

Eleanor Tamayo has served on the DSAC Board for several years. Prior to corporate retirement, Eleanor was an Outreach Advisor and Programs Manager specializing in Senior, Special Needs and Income-Disadvantaged assistance in San Diego County.

Deatriz Cook

Vice Chairperson

Deatriz Cook’s previous employment was with the San Diego Regional Center, a non-profit agency that provides services to the Developmentally Disabled. That is where she first learned about the Disabled Services Advocacy Council (DSAC) and became part of it around 2007. In addition to her previous employment she also is the proud mother of two adult sons and the youngest receives services from the Regional Center and periodically enjoys events offered by Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) in San Diego.

Now that she is retired Deatriz plans to travel a lot as well as helping in the community where and when she can.

Jeanette Alden

Secretary

Jeanette Alden joined DSAC’s board in January of 2021. She has two siblings with disabilities, the younger of which was a regular participant in TRS events for over 20 years. Jeanette has dedicated 16+ years to working with adults undergoing physical rehabilitation–first as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, and more recently as an RN at the VA San Diego Spinal Cord Injury Unit.

Dallin Young

Treasurer

Dallin has been involved with Therapeutic Recreation Services and AgeWell Services for over 10 years, working as a volunteer and recreation leader for many different programs, and now as a DSAC board member for over 3 years. Dallin is a public and government affairs consultant and active participant in local politics.

Board Members

Betty Templeton

Betty Templeton has served on the DSAC board for more than 17 years. She has been a Recreation Therapist for over 40 years and has spent almost her entire time working for Sharp Healthcare. She has worked in all areas of Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, initially working in Inpatient care and then moving to Outpatient Services and Research. Her passion throughout her career has always been in encouraging social interaction and participation in leisure activities to improve quality of life.

Meagan Nunez

Meagan Nunez has practiced special education law for over 10 years. She has been a member of DSAC for 11 years.
